About
This blog has been around since 2010, back when it was called MyMidlifeCreativities and I was working my way through a year of photographs — not one a day exactly, but in that spirit. I'd gather images in batches: first from close by, my home and the people in it, and then, over time, it sent me out into the world with no agenda but to look. The editing and posting stretched it out into something slow and pleasurable.
That was then. A Gentle Eye is the softer sequel — no rules this time, just the feeling when it hits. A moment at home, a detour into the world, whatever asks to be seen.
The name means something to me. I've learned, over the years, that looking gently isn't the same as looking away. It means seeing the nuance, sitting with complexity, and sometimes — on purpose — editing out. Even difficult moments can be held that way. Especially difficult moments.
So that's what this is. A practice in noticing. You're welcome here.
